KPHA Leadership

The membership of Kansas Public Health Association can play a number of roles serving on the board, joining an interest section or serving on one of the association's committees. Each year, awards for meritorious service in the field of public health and the environment are made by KPHA at the Kansas Public Health Conference. These awards serve to create an awareness of the organization in general and outstanding contributors to public health in particular. Any member may submit nominations for any or all of the awards. Unless specifically stated, awardees need not be members of KPHA. There are several award categories.

The Awards Committee is charged with management of the awards process and has specific functions as outlined in the organizational bylaws:

  • solicit and review nominees for designated KPHA awards;
  • recommend individuals to the Board of Directors for the designated awards based on the policies, procedures and in accordance with the bylaws;
  • establish and assist with the proceedings for presenting the awards at the annual meeting; and
  • recommend the establishment or deletion of an award.

Chair - The current chair is Becky Tuttle.

The Conference Committee consists of at least one member from each section. The committee makes the site arrangements, plans the programming and arranges for exhibitors and publicity for the annual Kansas Public Health Conference held in the autumn of each year.

Chair - The 2013 Fall Conference Chair is Brenda Nickel.

This committee studies and evaluates, and supports matters relating to membership, in particular, recruitment and retention.

Chair - For information about this committee contact Greg Crawford or Lindsay Payer

The Nominating Committee solicits and accepts names for offices to be filled. From those names, it develops a ballot.

Chair - The current chair is Tanya Honderick.
